Paul Jarvie has signed for The Loons on-loan from Dundee United until Christmas 2004, following Michael Brown’s shoulder injury. The 22 year old is currently third in line for the Goalkeepers position at Tannadice, and Arabs’ manager Ian McCall has agreed to let him join up at Station Park to provide additional goalkeeping cover.
Paul signed for Dundee United as an amatuar from Stonehaven Boys Club, whilst he continued his studies at Aberdeen’s Kincorth Academy.
He was the Scottish Schools’ Under-18 keeper during Season 1998-99 and gained three caps against England, Wales and Northern Ireland. He accumulated another three caps for the Scottish Schools’ U-18 team which he captained during 1999-2000 and was a virtual ever-present in the United Youth team at the same time. During 2000-01 he was again the Youth team’s goalie.
In July 2001, Paul was included in the Scotland Under-20 squad for the Northern Ireland Milk Cup and in November he went on loan to Second Division Stenhousemuir where he made five appearances.
Paul made his first team debut for United during the second half of a match against Kilmarnock at the end of last season. He also played in twenty-two Under-21 games, helping the young Arabs to an admirable fifth place finish.
Paul sat on the bench for one game in season 04/05 before being recalled to Dundee Utd for 1st team duty.
