Having come through the youth system of his local club St Mirren, David was snapped up by Ray Stewart following his release from Love Street.

Was in and out of the side during the 2003/04 season, but was to become a permanent fixture at left back for the 2004/05 season – turning in a series of steady, committed performances.

Went on to skipper the side on several occasions towards the end of last season.

Moved to Ayr United in January of 2006 for a five figure sum.
